HISTORY

On April 1, 1966 (no joke), Donald R. Pullen established Pullen Air Conditioning Service, working out of his New Orleans home on Iberville Street. During Pullen AC’s early years, the HVAC industry was radically different than it is today. Units were typically sold with only a one year customer warranty, and a business dedicated to performing service work on the units was considered unprofitable.

Where others saw only risk, Donald saw an opportunity for change in the market, a gap that needed to be filled. With just a startup network of referrals and a Chevy truck, Donald began providing HVAC maintenance and repair services, charging $7 an hour for service calls. The business quickly became successful enough to warrant hiring its first employee - Donald’s wife Joanne, who became the company’s primary receptionist and secretary.

This family run success story continued to thrive under Donald’s guidance for thirty years, until he was finally ready to hang up his gauges and retire. His son Eric, determined to carry the torch his dad had lit, spent the next seven years learning all that he needed to know to make his dad proud and to make southeastern Louisiana more comfortable.

Fifteen years after choosing to follow in his dad’s footsteps and half a century since Donald’s decision to build a family business serving Louisiana, Pullen Air Conditioning, Inc. is recognized as a trusted leader in the HVAC industry.

MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER

Since our company was founded in 1966, hundreds of heating and cooling companies have come and gone in the New Orleans area. Many fail because the original owner didn’t cultivate the right management team, leaving no one to take his place when he retires. Donald Pullen’s leadership and planning allowed us to make the transition from one generation to the next easily, and as a result, we’ve continued to thrive since 1966.

Though our company continues to grow, we’re still a family owned and operated business. We don’t ever intend to lose the personal relationships we’ve developed with our valued clients, and we’d love for you to be part of the Pullen family, too.
